This is beautiful Lexi's referral photo:
I am madly in love with my Lexi. She is an all-around special girl.
She is just so GOOD.
Everywhere she goes, she reaches her hand out and touches whoever is around her and says, "Hi! My name is Lexi. What's your name?" This often leads to a long conversation and instant friendship. People LOVE and ADORE this sweet girl. Her teachers, friends, neighbors, and strangers are drawn to her and her special spirit. She brings us so much JOY.
This is beautiful Yin's referral photo:
When I read Yin's profile, I immediately thought of my Lexi. Her personality sounds exactly the same. In fact, I'm just going to call her "Little Lexi." And I thought to myself, "This is just TRAGIC!" Little Lexi is sitting in an orphanage across the world. So many wonderful, sweet people here are drawn to my Lexi and will even say things like, "Oh, I wish I had a daughter just like her," or "Could I take you home with me?!" And there is one-year-old Little Lexi, waiting for a family of her own.
PEOPLE!!!!
Are you sure this little girl doesn't have a place in your family? Oh my goodness, is she ever precious! You would be working with the most wonderful agency, CCAI, and Little Lexi would have such a good head start by getting home at a much younger age than our Lexi. She could be reading (braille) on level by the time she gets into kindergarten. She could have such a bright future. She could bring SO MUCH JOY into your home.
I'm just sayin'.... (;

Little Lexi's description:
Yin is a very pretty little girl, but she can’t enjoy the color of the world in her life because due to her special need of hypoplasia of the optic nerve, she can’t see anything. She can only use her hearing to experience this world. She has also been diagnosed with patent foramen ovale.
Yin is extremely well-mannered, and when she’s not doing anything, she will always be by herself sitting quietly off to the side listening to the little children run around and making noises often times giving rise to a happy smile. Even though she can’t see things, she can grab onto her own cookies and bread and eat them. Her hearing is very sensitive, especially towards the sounds from a nanny who often takes care of her. Every time she hears the sound of the nanny talking, she will accurately turn her hands and face towards the nanny, hoping the nanny will see her. Her body is quite hale and hearty and now if you use one hand to support her, she can walk forward.
The older she gets, the more she understands. In general, she can understand a few simple words and terms, she can clap her hands in welcome, and she knows parts of her body like hands, feet, tongue, etc. Her personality is getting brighter and brighter and she is learning how to play with other children and horseplay with them. She plays well, she likes every kind of toy and sometimes when she hears a cartoon come on the TV, she will say “n, a” to make a few sentences. It is so cute!

ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog for a while and when I saw that little girl in the CCAI child profiles last week, I immediately thought of Lexi. I wondered to myself whether they were from the same province because they even LOOK alike! It made me smile to see that her mother saw the resemblance, too. We are finishing up our dossier with CCAI right now and don't have vision loss on our checklist, but Lexi makes me consider it! Love your blog, love your family & pray for you often. You guys are amazing.
ReplyDeleteHi Christianne, I continue to follow your blog everyday. You have such a beautiful family! I am one of those moms who desires an Asian princ or princess. We have 5 children of our own. I would love to adopt specifically from china. The problem is that my husband thoughts are how could we ever do such a thing. He is the provider for our home. I am blessed to be able to stay home with our children. Our youngest is 2 and I am looking forward to many years of raising my kids. If someone dropped a baby at our door with a note that read please keep me, my husband wouldn't hesitate. He loves his children! He has a heart for children and works with middle school kids all day. He is sensitive to the ones that have a rough life.
ReplyDeleteSo my heart is open and longs to adopt. I would like to ask if you would pray for the hearts of not only mine, but for the hearts of many husbands and fathers to be opened to adoption. I appreciate the posts from your husband. It is special to read his thoughts about his family. Thank you so much! I Kimberly in PA
my heart hurts when I see these kids! I have always wanted to adopt... but I was reading their requirements and we aren't even remotely close to being accepted due to our income. so frustrating.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, right?! Those requirements can be so frustrating. You should know that many agencies are willing to ask for exceptions on these requirements, especially when you are adopting a "hard to place" child. It certainly wouldn't hurt to contact CCAI (ccaifamily.org) and tell them what your income is and ask if an exception might be granted for this little girl. (:
DeleteReally? I thought those requirements were pretty iron-clad. Aren't some of them based on USCIS requirements? We concluded we could not adopt internationally after reading the requirements also. I would be delighted if there could be exceptions.
DeleteYes. I just emailed a friend at my agency to make sure that exceptions were still being made on a case-by-case basis. This is her reply: "Please, by all means, encourage your friends to contact us! Yes, China has indeed been known to offer some extra flexibility on their qualifications when families adopt Special Focus children – we’d love to hear from your friends and discuss their situation!"

I don't think USCIS will flex on the family's income being more than 125% of the federal poverty level. But if you are between that and China's rule of $10,000 per family member including the newly adopted child, a good agency can sometimes get you an exception for a Special Focus child, if you can demonstrate taht you have low expenses and definitely can care for the child. Can't hurt to ask!
DeleteYou don't want to bring her home when you go for Connor ;) ?!?!?
ReplyDeleteYou don't want to bring her home when you go for Connor ;) ?!?!?
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw Yin I thought it was Elli's referral photo. Seriously I think she looks like a Green child to me. I agree that you should bring her home with Conner. Speaking of which, I have been anxiously waiting for your annoucement of when he is coming home.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Sophi actually just came up to me as her photo was on the computer and said, "Ohhhh, Elli is sad in that picture." I told her it was another little girl and she wouldn't believe me. (:
DeleteShe looks SOOOOO much like Elli!!!!!
